| This is the last year for the Kia Sportage, to make room for the upcoming mid-size Sorento SUV. The Sportage returned in 2005 with an all-new design. This compact SUV with two rows of seats for four passengers, coming in only one base trim in four-door, with part-time 4WD or rear-wheel drive and feature a 2.0-liter, 130-hp I4 engine. The 4WD features low-range gearing and can be taken off-road, with a truck-like suspension that helps smooth out the ride when off the pavement. The 2002 Sportage gets new standard features to go with the full power accessories and dual front and driver's knee airbag (a Kia innovation). Air conditioning and alloy wheels are standard on four-door models, as are privacy glass, an improved audio system, and an exterior trunk release, which was previously accessed only by a key.
